About the role
Isomorphic Labs is seeking an experienced in vitro/in cellular pharmacology leader to define screening strategies and lead biology within small molecule drug discovery programs, bridging computational predictions and experimental validation in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Design efficient and comprehensive biological screening cascades for internal and partnered drug design programs.
- Guide the optimization and implementation of biophysical and biochemical assays, including SPR, ITC, and enzymatic methodologies, to evaluate target interaction, pharmacological potency, and molecular specificity.
- Direct the development and refinement of functional and phenotypic cellular assays to advance target validation and mechanistic understanding.
- Work with CROs to design decision-making experiments and deliver high-quality biological data to inform path to the clinic.
- Evaluate, interpret, and synthesize complex binding, kinetic, and dose-response information; generate precise technical documentation to guide strategic decision-making and support IND-enabling data packages.
- Act as a bridge between computational prediction and experimental reality, collaborating with AI/ML/Data Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Structural Biology, and In vivo Pharmacology/Translational Sciences to align data and drive lead optimization and translational study design.
- For roles with people management, line manage and mentor a team of 2-3 In vitro / Cellular Pharmacologists, fostering scientific growth and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biophysics, or related discipline.
- 8+ years / 5+ years of professional experience in a Translational Sciences role within biotech, pharma, or CRO settings.
- Experience leading biology within small molecule drug discovery programs from inception to clinical candidate delivery.
- Experience leading a high-performing scientific team (for management role).
- Extensive experience designing and implementing biological screening cascades for drug design projects (hit to candidate).
- Deep knowledge of in vitro pharmacology techniques including biophysical, biochemical, and/or cellular assays.
- Ability to provide technical guidance within matrixed organizations and coordinate cross-functional programs.
- Experience working with CROs to obtain and interpret high-quality biological data in a timely manner.
