Responsibilities
- Oversee planning, methodology development, fiscal management, and implementation of target-specific in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, PK/PD, and safety assessments across project portfolios.
- Design robust translation strategies geared toward clinical translation using datasets and biomarkers to inform patient selection frameworks.
- Define model paradigms for translational packages (in vivo, ex vivo patient-derived tissue, etc.) and develop biomarker strategies for early clinical proof of concept.
- Work with CROs to design decision-making experiments and deliver high-quality biological data to inform path to the clinic.
- Provide scientific expertise to ML and computational biology teams to support predictive models of biological systems.
- Distill biological data into actionable insights for project leaders, teams, and partners.
- Be integrated in or lead projects to provide strategic input for project success.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data to produce high-quality reports for go/no-go decisions and IND filings.
- Bridge computational prediction and experimental reality, collaborating with ML/Data Science, Discovery Biology/Lead Optimization, DMPK/Toxicology, Clinical Development/Program Management to translate hypotheses into trial designs and biomarkers.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline.
- 8+ years / 5+ years of professional experience in a Translational Sciences role in biotech/pharma/CRO.
- Experience in project leadership / leading biology within small molecule drug discovery programs (from inception to clinical candidate delivery).
- People management experience for a high-performing scientific team (for manager track).
- Deep understanding of target, mechanism, and disease interdependencies; expertise in translational models in oncology and/or immune disorders.
- Extensive pharma/biotech experience developing Target Product Profiles (TPPs) and translating them into biological screening cascades.
- Proven track record in translational data packages and biomarker strategies to inform clinical trial design.
- Experience designing PK/PD experiments for human dose prediction and coordinating with ADMET, formulation, and clinical teams.
- Proven experience managing multi-vendor CRO networks (negotiation, timelines, data quality).
- Exceptional project management and leadership capabilities; ability to influence matrixed teams without direct authority.
