About the role

Silicon hardware engineering internship/co-op across multiple SpaceX sites (Irvine, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Redmond, WA) for Spring 2027. Interns work with cross-disciplinary teams on custom in-house silicon and hardware deployed in space, with mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with mentor and cross-disciplinary teams (systems, firmware, architecture, design, validation, product engineering, ASIC implementation) to apply knowledge to chip design and development.
  • Contribute to silicon hardware engineering projects on SpaceX’s in-house silicon and hardware deployed on-orbit in space.
  • Participate in optional social and professional events to network with interns and employees.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or graduate program
  • 3+ months of software development, hardware engineering, or chip design/development experience
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, or a U.S. lawful permanent resident, or refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158
