About the role
Experienced Active Alignment Process Engineer to lead optical active alignment processes for transceiver production, maintain equipment, develop alignment algorithms, and ensure high yield in photonics manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Lead and optimize optical active alignment processes for transceiver production
- Operate, set up, and maintain active alignment equipment, including equipment control and qualification
- Develop, implement, and optimize alignment algorithms
- Perform equipment buyoff and equipment qualification activities
- Oversee epoxy dispensing and curing processes
- Design and refine fixtures to improve alignment processes
- Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and engineering teams to ensure high yield and quality in production
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment control, alignment processes, and fixtures
- Contribute to process documentation and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience with optical active alignment for transceivers or related photonic devices
- Familiarity with active alignment processes and equipment for optics such as FAU, lens, isolator, PIC chip, etc
- Experience with AA equipment buyoff and qualification
- Knowledge of stages, controllers, power meters, MPO connectors, laser sources, algorithms, as well as mechanical parts
- Knowledge of epoxy dispensing and curing methods
- Experience with equipment control
- Experience in fixture design for alignment
- Proficiency in developing or optimizing alignment algorithms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, physics, optics, or related field preferred
