About the role

Senior Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for defining, developing, and executing processes that deliver high quality and reliable precision machined parts for missile and high-speed aircraft programs. Focus on early engagement with design teams and suppliers to meet quality requirements, driving supplier development, process readiness, and compliance across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with design teams to support design development, provide design for manufacturability feedback, and generate product data for precision mechanical parts to ensure supplier quality success.
  • Utilize machining, molding, additive manufacturing, fabrication, special processes, and inspection/measurement knowledge to support design and scale designs for volume production.
  • Drive supplier quality development through design reviews, supplier process development, testing, and qualification for components and sub-assemblies; review supplier processes and capabilities for alignment to requirements.
  • Collaborate with development engineering, product quality engineering, sourcing engineering, category management and program management to deliver predictable supply and manage exceptions/containments/deviations for supplier performance, especially in development phases.
  • Drive supplier quality readiness by analyzing key characteristics, develop measurement systems, and lead supplier qualification activities (PPAP, FAIR, Audit, inspection development).
  • Partner with Global Strategic Sourcing and Product Sourcing Engineering to drive supplier performance for cost, quality, delivery, and strategic goals.
  • Own elimination of supplier risk to improve quality and reliability; conduct audits, readiness reviews, and training/documentation for compliance.
  • Support RCCA and MRB activities and own containments from purchased goods.
  • Review supplier effectiveness of actions and share lessons learned; drive SCAR processes.
  • Audit supplier Quality Management System for supplier quality and performance; contribute to flow-down requirements and documentation.
  • Prepare, support, and lead supplier onsite audits and reviews for contract deliverables related to quality management and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy or similar technical field.
  • Experience with producing precision mechanical parts for aerospace or defense.
  • Experience scaling supplier capabilities from prototype to volume production; experience with source inspection at mechanical manufacturing suppliers is a plus; experience flowing down Source Control requirements to suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001-based QMS requirements; AS9100 Lead/Internal Auditor Certification or equivalent a plus.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspection to AS9102 and ensuring control plans/inspection processes meet product requirements.
  • Experience driving supplier performance and evaluation; familiarity with SOW, quality clauses, IP, and government regulations (ITAR).
  • Knowledge of FMEA, APQP, PPAP elements (MSA, quality improvement, GD&T).
  • Strong ownership mindset to drive projects from start to finish.
  • Analytical skills for data mining, data quality, metrics, issue management systems, and statistical tools (MatLab, JMP, MiniTab).
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations.
