About the role

Senior automation and controls engineer focused on high-rate satellite factory automation for Starlink at SpaceX's Redmond facility, leading multidisciplinary projects in machine design, robotics, motion systems, and factory health monitoring to enable high-volume satellite production.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage automation projects - from factory ideation to machine commissioning, proof of rate capability, and hand-off to operations
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code with emphasis on maintainable, reusable solutions for high-volume manufacturing
  • Maintain factory safety/reliability by implementing ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, and equipment
  • Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for ease of use and troubleshooting
  • Design electrical systems compliant to NEC, NFPA, & UL508A
  • Stay organized by creating schedules and budgets and motivate the team to achieve them

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial or factory automation design/implementation OR 5+ years designing and building electro-mechanical/robotic/automated systems or products
