About the role

Internship focusing on design and validation of a regenerative drying and purification system for high-purity hydrogen. Role includes characterizing thermal/separation processes, developing control systems, optimizing parameters, overseeing an experimental test station, and potentially working with vendors on custom components.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and validation of a regenerative drying and purification system for high-purity hydrogen.
  • Characterize thermal/separation processes.
  • Develop control systems and optimize operating parameters to satisfy reliability and cost constraints.
  • Oversee an experimental test station and develop a data analysis framework for long-term physicochemical phenomena.
  • Collaborate with an R&D engineer and possibly work with vendors to design and develop custom components.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.S. or M.S. in Chemical / Materials / Mechanical / Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or similar
  • Comfortable working with basic mechanical/electrical components, troubleshoot independently, and take ownership of hands-on lab work
  • Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reaction kinetics, phase equilibria
  • Ability to learn quickly and operate in a fast-moving environment
  • Available to start between October 2026 and January 2027 for on-site work in Mountain View, CA
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accountability
  • Clear, thoughtful communicator who works well on small, collaborative teams
