About the role
Engineering Manager role leading the team building the scalable control plane for VPC networking within Crusoe Cloud, focusing on SDN control plane scale and reliability for multi-tenant GPU fleets, with hands-on leadership and rapid feature-to-production delivery.
Responsibilities
- Technical Ownership: define roadmap for the VPC control plane and evolve network virtualization systems (e.g., OVN/OVS) delivering VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancing, NAT, and internet/hybrid connectivity.
- Architecture & Scale: design distributed control-plane services including intent APIs, state reconciliation, network policy compilation, and southbound programming of hosts/DPUs, driving scalability beyond current fleet size.
- Production Execution: support reliability engineering, convergence and API-latency benchmarking, regression prevention, and incident response within 3-6 month execution cycles.
- People Leadership: mentor and grow a team of mid-level to senior distributed systems engineers, set technical standards, foster high-performance culture.
- Collaboration: partner with data-plane teams (XDP/eBPF, DPDK, DPU offload) and cloud product teams to deliver low-latency, highly available networking for multi-tenant GPU clusters.
Qualifications
- 6-8+ years in distributed systems or cloud networking engineering.
- 2-4+ years managing engineering talent.
- Strong knowledge of SDN and network virtualization: VXLAN/Geneve, VPC constructs, routing (BGP/EVPN), OVN/OVS or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience building large-scale control planes: state reconciliation, consensus, API design, fleet-wide configuration propagation (Go, Kubernetes-style controllers, or similar).
- Understanding of operating multi-tenant cloud services: SLOs, convergence-time and scale benchmarking, graceful degradation, blast-radius containment.
- Execution mindset to resolve complex technical challenges in a fast-moving environment.
