About the role
Visionary lead for Crusoe’s next-generation AI infrastructure, bridging silicon and software to unify BMaaS, Intelligent IaaS, and Elastic CaaS into a high-performance AI compute fabric. Hands-on leadership for R&D, architecture, and production-grade kernel/o orchestration code.
Responsibilities
- Unifying Infrastructure Pillars: BMaaS delivering raw GPU throughput via zero-latency InfiniBand/RDMA fabrics for massive-scale training; Intelligent IaaS with optimized virtualization layers (KVM or custom micro-VMs) to reduce virtualization tax; Elastic CaaS with high-performance container substrate (Kubernetes or Slurm) for burstable AI workloads across heterogeneous GPU nodes.
- Mastering the I/O Path: Architect internal cloud fabric roadmap for SR-IOV, RDMA, and virtualized GPU scheduling.
- Advanced R&D Leadership: Lead workstreams to prototype and productionize novel memory, networking, and compute management methods not present in standard cloud distributions.
- Technical Strategy & Documentation: Draft white papers and RFCs outlining Crusoe’s compute and networking roadmap for the next two years.
- High-Level Debugging: Collaborate with Staff and Senior engineers to resolve race conditions in the I/O path and optimize kernel-level memory pinning for GPU clusters.
- Industry Influence: Represent Crusoe in open-source communities and industry forums to shape the direction of cloud-native AI infrastructure.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience designing and shipping core infrastructure at a major hyperscaler or specialized HPC cloud
- Authoritative knowledge of the Linux kernel, virtualization internals (KVM, QEMU, Firecracker), and high-performance networking (RoCE v2, InfiniBand)
- Proven ability to design software that maximizes performance of NVIDIA/AMD GPUs and high-speed NICs
- Experience leading cross-functional R&D teams through high-ambiguity projects and delivering production-ready systems
- Significant contributions to the field (patents, major open-source contributions, or published distributed systems research)
- Excellent communication skills, ability to connect memory-mapped I/O details to business value
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/CE or equivalent professional experience
