About the role

Hiring the founding Engineering Manager to lead a new engineering team focused on building and shipping integrations for AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, n8n) within MongoDB’s AI Builder ecosystem. Role combines hands-on exploratory work with team building, technical direction, and governance to establish a scalable integration portfolio across Python and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and lead a team of Python and TypeScript engineers to build MongoDB integrations across AI framework ecosystems (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, n8n, Mastra)
  • Execute effectively in a fast-moving environment and deliver high-quality changes
  • Flag issues, triage, and coordinate with management to staff and hand off projects
  • Collaborate with product managers, program managers, sales, GTM, and peer engineering teams to improve the builder experience and extend MongoDB’s position in AI frameworks
  • Manage dependencies on drivers, platform capabilities, and other MongoDB product surfaces
  • Collaborate with external teams and maintain professionalism through upstream review cycles
  • Contribute to initial exploratory work, guide key decisions, and unblock projects as they grow
  • Own monitoring, operations, maintenance, testing strategy, release readiness, and ongoing quality of a broad integration portfolio
  • Develop and maintain sustainable engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing, version compatibility, integration health)
  • Keep the team current with Python, TypeScript, and AI builder ecosystems and emerging patterns
  • Apply research and discovery mindset to guide roadmap and identify opportunities for strategic advantage

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience building developer platforms, libraries, or other high-scale technical systems, with strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript and ability to lead cross-language teams
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team of software engineers and providing technical leadership for complex projects or products
  • Experience with query optimization (especially MongoDB) and AI coding tools; distributed systems experience is a plus
  • Proven success hiring, mentoring, and growing high-performing engineering teams and managing career development, feedback, and performance
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving technical landscape with prioritization and judgment
  • Strong technical depth in developer-facing software and architectural judgment
  • Experience leading launches of features or systems and operating them in production
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Track record of escalating issues early and fostering intellectual honesty and collaboration
  • Comfort in ambiguous, evolving spaces and helping teams progress with changing customer behavior or ecosystem priorities
  • Strong interest in modern AI builder workflows and developer tooling; familiarity with frameworks, retrieval patterns, agent workflows, embedding, vector search, etc.
  • Experience with open source software and external ecosystems, especially Python; familiarity with open source contribution models and upstream maintenance
