About the role

Instagram product designer role focused on shaping experiences for sharing, discovering, creating, and connecting on Instagram. Cross-functional leadership across product managers, engineers, data scientists, and researchers. Involves end-to-end product development, from ideation to launch, with emphasis on design craft, strategic influence, and potential use of AI for new capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver design projects of large and/or ambiguous scope across Instagram's product ecosystem
  • Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something useful and valuable for our 2 billion+ users
  • Design flows and experiences that simplify and distill down complex actions into user-friendly interfaces
  • Design new experiences or layouts that evolve and define visual systems
  • Innovate with AI to create new capabilities, improve personalization, or unlock new forms of value that weren't previously possible
  • Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of Instagram products
  • Give and solicit feedback from designers and a broader product team in order to continually improve the quality of our design output through structured feedback and shared standards, while also taking on mentorship
  • Lead cross-functional partnerships with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until its launch
  • Champion design craft and elevate design quality standards on the team — not just through your own work but by influencing how others design

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 4+ years of product design experience, with demonstrated impact on consumer products at scale
  • A portfolio that shows end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-surface product experiences
  • Experience leading end-to-end development efforts, driving progress with Cross Functional Network (XFN) teams, developing design roadmaps, and making high-impact decisions balancing user needs with business growth objectives
  • Expertise in advanced prototyping techniques, such as creating functional prototypes or using emerging technologies
  • Comfort with data: you use metrics, research, and experimentation to inform and validate your design decisions
