About the role

An Engineering Manager in the Lending team overseeing the design and delivery of systems used to originate, assess, and service loans from application and decisioning through to repayments, redraw, and arrears. Focused on building auditable, resilient software and leading a motivated engineering team in a regulated financial context.

Responsibilities

  • Career development of software engineers in your team / assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new engineers
  • Set and maintain standards for engineering teams, advocate for code quality and create a culture of continuous improvement
  • Lead the technical strategy for our lending platform — provide technical direction, architectural decisions and oversight of how and when features will be implemented
  • Own the correctness and reliability of lending calculations, decisioning logic, and loan lifecycle events, where errors have direct financial and regulatory consequences
  • Work with product managers and principal engineers to guide the lending roadmap and ensure alignment with company goals and best practices
  • Partner with our risk, compliance, and operations teams to build controls and evidence into the platform rather than bolting them on
  • Responsible for technical project delivery, ensuring features are completed on time and within scope

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience building large-scale SaaS solutions
  • Comfortable owning systems where accuracy, traceability, and auditability are non-negotiable
  • Strong teamwork skills that foster productive relationships, adding to the company culture
  • Effectively handle complex problems and manage reactive programming
  • Nice to have - experience with lending, mortgages, or credit products origination, decisioning, servicing, or collections
