About the role

Electrical Engineer role focused on end-to-end avionics systems and subsystems development, including design, integration, testing, and validation for high-speed avionics. Based in Costa Mesa, CA.

Responsibilities

  • design, integration, testing, and validation of avionics systems and subsystems
  • PCB design, harnessing, process management, and cross-functional teamwork
  • bring-up and design work with microcontrollers
  • analyze power systems and electrical loading, run simulations and testing to determine optimal solutions
  • work with lab test equipment, EMI/thermal testing, and basic software debugging tools
  • develop and manage mixed-signal PCBs with multi-layer stacks, impedance matching, grounding, protections and filtering
  • capture system interconnect diagrams and drive cable harnessing designs with appropriate wire and connector selection

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex system designs
  • Power system and electrical loading analysis, simulation, and testing
  • Proficient with lab test equipment (benchtop power supplies, electronics loads, oscilloscopes, DMM, logic/spectrum analyzers) and familiar with thermal and EMI test chambers
  • Familiarity with CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB
  • Strong organization and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance
  • Experience with power design and power management systems
  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (bring-up and design)
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and circuits
  • Experience designing mixed-signal PCBs with layer stackup and impedance matching for power and sensor applications
  • Understanding of low/high voltage power electronics and control systems for interconnect diagrams and harnessing designs
