About the role

Engineer role building and operating the secure execution environment behind Claude’s agentic capabilities, focusing on containerized workloads, security, and scale to support millions of users and external engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Independently scope complex, multi-month projects and drive cross-org alignment.
  • Make architectural decisions shaping how Anthropic builds and scales its products.
  • Partner directly with research to productize cutting-edge capabilities.
  • Impact platform used by hundreds of thousands of companies and engineers daily.

Qualifications

  • Have a minimum of 8 years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems (tech lead level or equivalent).
  • Strong fundamentals in service-oriented architectures, networking, and systems design; ownership of technical vision and execution of a foundational platform system end-to-end.
  • Proficient in Python, Go, Rust, or similar systems languages.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and/or multi-cloud networking.
  • Take full ownership from design through deployment and operations.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound technical decisions independently; experience in 0 to 1 and more mature teams.
  • Product-focused approach to platform work; building robust, scalable, and usable solutions.
