About the role
Role to own company metrics, operating rhythm, and take work off the CEO’s plate to enable rapid growth in a regulated healthcare startup.
Responsibilities
- Own the metrics. Every number the board, investors, and team see runs through you: GTV, take rate, collection rate, clinician retention, time-to-first-session, credentialing throughput. You own definitions and restatements when methodologies change.
- Own the operating rhythm. Set goals that cascade to teams; run a weekly metrics review; manage a portfolio of ~15 strategic initiatives across 12+ states; ensure decisions are tracked and killed when needed.
- Take work off the CEO's plate. Prepare board/investor materials, diligence workstreams, financing support, outside counsel coordination, and key vendor relationships; eventually own them outright.
- Unblock bottlenecks. Improve credentialing and payer enrollment processes and optimize handoffs between credentialing, contracting, RCM, and clinical ops; sometimes execute a function personally to establish leadership.
- Own the hard one-offs. Analyze new state entry, multi-state corporate structure and regulatory compliance with outside counsel; build vs. buy decisions and system migrations; stand up new functions and hire leaders.
Qualifications
- 4–8 years in a role demanding rigor and speed (consulting, investment banking, PE/VC, or operating role at a high-growth startup)
- Exceptional writing ability (deck or memo that changed someone’s mind)
- Strong analytical skills; can build a model from scratch and critically assess its outputs
- Ability to operate with little direction and close 60% defined projects independently
- Comfort with being the least expert in the room and collaborating with clinicians, payer reps, healthcare lawyers, and engineers
- Low ego and flexibility to handle diverse tasks from board strategy to Medicaid enrollment tasks.
