About the role

Expressions of interest for a remote, full-time Special Projects Associate to provide specialized operations support for Epoch AI's research teams. Responsibilities evolve with initiatives and focus on logistics, external coordination, data permissions, events, and internal communications to help new projects start strong and run smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with external experts and contractors across domains, ensuring quality and a positive experience.
  • Supporting data projects, including securing and licensing data for data center tracking and ensuring compliance.
  • Organizing events such as symposiums to bring together field experts.
  • Owning external communications channels (e.g., inbox queries) and triaging with the team as needed.
  • Providing operational support for new research initiatives, handling tasks and details to enable project success.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of prior work experience in roles with many moving parts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with direct and empathetic communication.
  • Avid interest in AI developments and ability to discuss benchmarks and challenges without googling.
  • Ability to own projects without a clear playbook and break complex challenges into manageable steps.
  • Organized and conscientious, with a natural ability to manage details.
  • Comfort with and enthusiasm for startup-like, fast-moving environments.
  • Motivation for Epoch’s mission and work in AI development.
