About the role

Senior Software Engineer to join a brand-new engineering team in Gurugram focused on building the integration layer between MongoDB and third-party AI frameworks and tools. The role involves shipping integrations with AI ecosystems, contributing upstream, shaping engineering practices, and owning end-to-end delivery within a self-sufficient hybrid team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and ship MongoDB integrations across a broad AI framework ecosystem (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, n8n, Mastra) from exploratory spike to production release and ongoing maintenance.
  • Take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them to completion independently, adapting to evolving requirements and frameworks.
  • Perform initial exploratory work to assess new frameworks, define minimal viable integration, deploy to users, and recommend investment decisions.
  • Contribute high-quality code upstream to repositories MongoDB doesn't own and navigate external maintainer review cycles.
  • Build and maintain engineering practices for a broad integration portfolio (CI/CD, automated testing across framework/server versions, version compatibility, release readiness).
  • Own the operational health of integrations (monitoring, upgrades, breaking-change response, issue triage, post-launch follow-through).
  • Collaborate with DBX to define required driver, platform, and product capabilities; advocate for needed features and rationale.
  • Work with product management, design, partners, field teams, and open source maintainers to define current and future integration versions.
  • Raise the technical bar through architecture, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
  • Stay current with Python, TypeScript, and broader AI builder ecosystems and apply learnings to roadmap.
  • Pursue a research and discovery mindset to surface emerging opportunities and justify MongoDB’s involvement next.
  • Flag issues, risks, and resource needs early and clearly within the team and with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience building backend systems or developer-facing libraries.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Experience designing, writing, testing, debugging, and performance tuning software in large, long-lived code bases.
  • Product-minded engineering approach with ability to trade off time-to-market and maintainability, and comfort operating amid ambiguity.
  • Ability to context switch across multiple projects while maintaining prioritization and quality.
  • Strong interest in modern AI builder workflows and developer tooling (AI frameworks, agentic patterns, RAG/retrieval, embeddings, vector search).
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills; ability to document for partners outside immediate overlap.
  • Collaborative, curious, intellectually honest, and eager to learn.
