About the role

Software Engineer needed to join MongoDB's AI Interfaces team within AI Builder Experience to build core products that enable developers and AI agents to interact with MongoDB. Focus on surfaces for humans and agents to connect to MongoDB, including MCP Server, Agent Skills, Intelligent Assistant Platform, and purpose-built agents. Hybrid role based in Gurugram with 24/7 on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with research, product management, product engineering, product design, peers, and other teams to define the first version and future evolution of AI interfaces
  • Design, build, and deliver well-tested core pieces of the platform (MCP Server, Agent Skills, Intelligent Assistant Platform, and purpose-built agents) in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them to completion independently as requirements evolve
  • Contribute to shaping architecture, code reviews, and development practices, as well as developer experience, as teams and product grow
  • Mentor fellow engineers and assume ownership and accountability of projects

Qualifications

  • Strong background in building core components for scalable, high-availability web applications and services
  • 3+ years of experience building backend systems, primarily in Node.js and TypeScript, with interest in polyglot codebase
  • Track record of identifying problems, implementing solutions, and handling complex projects
  • Product-minded engineering approach with ability to make pragmatic tradeoffs amid ambiguity and evolving tech
  • Collaborative, curious, intellectually honest; strong verbal and written technical communication; eager to learn
