About the role

Role focused on building and owning the core knowledge encoding and routing engine for Sage Care's AI-powered care navigation platform, combining ML/AI research with software engineering to translate patient queries into actionable results.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the core symptom and query routing engine
  • Build models that map complex queries and symptoms to urgency classifiers, providers, and specialties
  • Build learned decision trees to infer necessary follow-up questions
  • Leverage insights from real protocols and triaging SOPs
  • Collaborate with medical professionals to create generalizable representations of queries to body systems and restrictions
  • Learn from real data by building self-learning models and iterate from user data and diagnoses
  • Establish metrics of quality and hill climb on models over time

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of ML engineering experience
  • Experience with foundational ML models (learned decision trees, deep learning, reinforcement learning)
  • Strong backend engineering skills and systems thinking
  • Experience with ambiguous problems and solving from first principles
  • Experience turning research or novel techniques into testable prototypes
