About the role

Hands-on Engineering Manager to build and lead the Latin America software engineering team, delivering and expanding enterprise deployments of Meta's AI agents across the region from a Brazil-anchored base; role combines ~80% people leadership with ~20% hands-on technical contribution, and requires building in-region capacity and aligned global collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, manage, and grow the Latin America software engineering team from the ground up, starting with a senior architect as the technical anchor and then filling remaining engineer and pod seats.
  • Build the in-region talent pipeline by recruiting operator-engineers from consulting firms and the local startup ecosystem; sell the mission to top candidates.
  • Assess sub-team structure needs as the org scales and propose changes; default to lean spans.
  • Own team health (Pulse, retention, upward feedback) and foster psychological safety, ownership, and accountability.
  • Stay technical by joining client co-builds, reviewing deployment architecture, and contributing outside the critical path; use AI to extend the team's reach.
  • Ensure sound technical decisions across connectors, integrations, agent tuning, evaluations, and the agentic runtime.
  • Uphold the IP-separation model: engineers build connectors and reusable tooling; client core code remains unmodified.
  • Develop runbooks, recipes, and reusable assets to accelerate engagements.
  • Own engineering delivery across multiple concurrent forward-deployed engagements, prioritizing speed-to-value, quality, and reliability across the deployment lifecycle.
  • Optimize for durable proof points on Meta-specific capabilities and minimize cost in people, time, and tokens.
  • Manage Latin America forward-deployed and in-region engineers anchored in Sao Paulo (Portuguese LATAM) with a Spanish-speaking pod in Sao Paulo or Argentina.
  • Partner with NORAM engineering leader and APAC Product Engineering leadership to standardize playbooks and rhythms, and with Business Engineering, Product, Data Engineering, and Sales for seamless deployments.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on technical contribution
  • 4+ years of engineering management experience, including managing teams with technical leaders or other managers
  • Experience driving technical strategy and roadmap planning across multiple concurrent large-scale software projects
  • Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining engineering talent, including performance management of leaders
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with product, design, and data science to define requirements and deliver software at scale
