Systems Engineer V&V - Air

About the role

Role focused on developing and leading verification & validation (V&V) for an AI-enabled electronic warfare capability for a 4+ generation fighter jet, from concept to maiden flight, including model-based V&V, strategy, toolchain, and compliance with aerospace/defence standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create simulation models of systems and units and integrate them into HiL and SiL labs/rigs
  • Develop architecture of high-fidelity plant models and virtual prototypes (MATLAB/Simulink, Ansys SCADE, or C++) to simulate aircraft components, EW system behaviours, RF environments, and aircraft dynamics
  • Develop tools to create and execute test procedures, integrate with requirements base (natural language and MBSE), automate generation of test results
  • Negotiate system qualification requirements and MoC with customer; derive and validate high-level software performance requirements with software leads
  • Improve traceability of system qualification requirements across software artifacts; develop a V&V product strategy for successful qualification
  • Collaborate with project manager to plan V&V activities, monitor progress, guide team toward qualification
  • Oversee preparation and authorisation of all V&V documents for compliance and certification in defence
  • Lead final software product qualification activities with customer and authorities
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure V&V deliverables meet quality standards and address issues promptly
  • Provide regular V&V status updates to Chief Engineering and Program Management teams

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with V&V for avionics or electronic warfare systems from requirements definition to final qualification
  • Subject matter expert in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with hands-on experience in Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, or IBM Rhapsody (SysML/UML)
  • Deep experience in behavioral and functional modeling translating natural language requirements into executable models
  • Experience with test environment and tools development for automation and execution of V&V in compliance with ARP4754B
  • Experience testing embedded software for avionics/electronic warfare systems per DO-178C and successful final qualification review
  • Established relationships with civil or military aviation authorities and participation in at least two panel meetings or SOI activities
  • Degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, physics, computer science, or related engineering discipline
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting and presenting results to internal/external stakeholders
  • Team-oriented with ability to coordinate and guide the team to meet aerospace standards
