About the role

Engineer on the Platform Portability team responsible for portable infrastructure and Claude deployment on partner clouds, building cloud-agnostic abstractions, tooling, and end-to-end delivery pipelines to run Anthropic’s systems across multiple providers.

Responsibilities

  • Portable infrastructure: Build provider-agnostic abstractions for storage, messaging, and connectivity to run on any cloud at frontier-model scale; design, build tooling to provision, configure, and operate services across clouds through a unified interface; identify and codify patterns to remove provider-specific assumptions.
  • Claude on partner clouds: Own end-to-end delivery of Claude onto third-party cloud platforms, including build, release, and validation pipelines; collaborate with cloud partner engineering teams and internal stakeholders; implement native provider integrations and ensure platform consistency across providers.
  • Cross-cutting duties: Review designs with cloud-portability implications, mentor engineers on multi-cloud patterns, align internal stakeholders through writing and discussion, participate in on-call rotation, and design postmortems/runbooks for incident response.

Qualifications

  • Have a minimum of 8 years of practical experience building and operating production distributed systems
  • Own large-scale infrastructure systems and lead ambiguous, cross-team technical projects from design through production
  • Run the same production workload across multiple cloud providers, including migration/abstraction work
  • Understand how cloud IAM models and networking primitives differ across providers
  • Write production code in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Go, or Rust)
  • Work confidently with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Understand ML infrastructure and supporting interconnects
  • Ship software through hyperscaler marketplaces or managed-model platforms
  • Bring a background in security, compliance, or data residency for regulated or sovereign cloud environments
  • Care about societal impacts and Anthropic's mission
