About the role

Strategic Sourcing Business Partner overseeing the commercial and vendor-management aspects of Anthropic's R&D services portfolio, including Human Data Operations (HDO) and other lab/research service providers. Owns end-to-end commercial terms, contract redlines, templates, negotiations, vendor performance, and value creation for R&D partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Own the commercial redline for HDO and R&D services agreements (MSAs, SOWs, order forms, amendments, and renewals), partnering with Legal on terms
  • Build and maintain the template library (MSA/SOW templates, pricing exhibits, SLA schedules, fallback playbook)
  • Run the renewal calendar to prevent unintended auto-renewals or lapses
  • Keep contract data (rates, volume commitments, SLAs, key dates) current in contract/intake systems
  • Lead pricing and commercial negotiations across the portfolio, including strategy, deal structure, terms, SLAs, and executive alignment
  • Build playbooks and Claude-powered tools for redlining, negotiation prep, benchmarking, and reporting
  • Design pricing structures (per-unit, per-hour, capacity, tiered, committed-volume) aligned with R&D usage
  • Maintain a competitive bench via RFPs and competitive processes
  • Track and report savings, cost avoidance, and improved terms
  • Own vendor management cadence (QBRs, scorecards, SLA/quality reporting, remedies)
  • Manage escalations between R&D and vendors to resolution
  • Identify consolidation/renegotiation opportunities and present executive-ready recommendations
  • Manage TPRM, security, compliance approvals, audit rights, and data-handling terms
  • Partner with Procurement Ops BPs and R&D leadership on needs and capacity planning
  • Collaborate with Finance & Strategy on budgets, forecasts, and multi-year cost models

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in strategic sourcing, category management, vendor management, or commercial negotiation in services (data services, BPO/outsourced operations, lab/research services, staffing)
  • Hands-on contract experience with redlining MSAs/SOWs, templates, and pricing exhibits
  • History of leading multi-million dollar services negotiations to strong outcomes
  • Judgment on leverage across a portfolio with reputation for commercially tough and fair dealings
  • Strong analytical skills (rate/unit-cost analysis, TCO modeling, pricing model design)
  • Experience with services vendor management (SLA, scorecards, QBRs, escalations)
  • Comfort operating at pace with high deal volume and ambiguity
  • Clear communication with executives and across interfaces, including difficult conversations
  • Fluency with AI tools and experience rebuilding workflows around them
