About the role

Senior EHS Engineer at SpaceX Rocket Development & Test Site, responsible for implementing and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs, regulatory compliance, and incident prevention in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH and other regulatory agencies
  • Collaborate with leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies
  • Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards
  • Understand and implement machine guarding where needed
  • Develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance
  • Complete and maintain documented safety observations from hazard identification audits
  • Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes and preventive measures
  • Develop, implement and maintain safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.)
  • Maintain compliance with EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, NEPA and other environmental regulations
  • Review and interpret new environmental laws and provide guidance to management
  • Provide expert level guidance to engineering customers on safety design
  • Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits
  • Conduct and monitor NPDES and other discharge permits/plans
  • Maintain recordkeeping for permitted sources defined by local TCEQ
  • Responsible for hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including DOT and RCRA

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines or a relevant engineering field
