About the role

Construction Project Manager at SpaceX, focused on design, build, and activation of infrastructure and large capital projects at Starbase and other SpaceX facilities. Based in South Texas (Brownsville/South Padre Island area).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and own the full lifecycle of multidisciplinary construction projects to achieve on-time and under-budget delivery with customer satisfaction.
  • Provide guidance and input on preliminary scope/customer requests, including rough order of magnitude (ROM) costs
  • Gather proposals from architects, engineers, vendors, or contractors
  • Evaluate competitive bids as appropriate
  • Review proposals for accuracy, identify and track cost-saving suggestions or improvements
  • Recommend the best path of action
  • Develop the final cost and schedule for the project
  • Implement controls as needed to track and manage cost, schedule, and scope
  • Write and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out
  • Facilitate city, county, and regulatory approvals
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-time
  • Manage the overall site safety and environmental requirements for contractors
  • Track and approve invoicing of work
  • Manage all aspects of multi-disciplinary construction projects in the field
  • Provide daily coordination to contractors working across the entire facility and coordinate critical path work to maintain project schedules
  • Plan construction activities with facility operators to avoid delays to facility operations
  • Perform daily quality inspection and verification of contractor's progress and observe critical operations to ensure quality
  • Ensure contractors follow site and OSHA safety standards while performing work
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-time
  • Manage night shift/early morning contractors as project work requires

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management with 1+ years of experience working in the field on construction projects, or 5+ years of commercial construction experience considered in lieu of degree

Required:Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations
Nice to have:Site measurement calculations (percent grade, volumes)Topographic surveying and as-builts (GPS/total station)Civil infrastructure installation (utilities, structural concrete)Project management of major construction projectsField coordination between trades and contractorsAutoCAD or Revit
