About the role
Technical Lead responsible for defining and building the resilient two-way communication foundation between Nuro’s autonomous fleets and the cloud, spanning cellular and Wi‑Fi connectivity, telemetry, and routing across current and next‑gen platforms.
Responsibilities
- Establish the technical roadmap and architectural vision for fleet connectivity, ensuring observability, security, and reliability of cellular network components and network software during robot start-up and autonomous operation.
- Drive system design for scalable, fault-tolerant connectivity solutions, leading software efforts for next-gen platforms.
- Lead high-impact technical initiatives with upstream and downstream stakeholders to define system requirements and implement connectivity strategies.
- spearhead the development of advanced analysis tools, dashboards, and automation frameworks to track, measure, and optimize connectivity trends from operational data.
- Serve as the technical authority for the team, providing high-level design guidance, code reviews, and technical mentorship for engineers.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience with a proven track record as a Tech Lead on complex software projects.
- Strong proficiency in C, C++, Go, Python, or similar languages.
- Exceptionally skilled at turning ambiguous, high-level requirements into detailed system designs and architecture across multiple components.
- Deep technical expertise in debugging and tooling of cellular modems, Linux network stacks, and networking protocols.
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
