About the role

Senior leadership role focused on creating and owning a portfolio of front-to-back AI resilience organizations and initiatives, spanning defense, governance, and infrastructure to ensure societal capacity to benefit from AI while mitigating risks.

Responsibilities

  • Roadmap the AI resilience landscape to identify bottlenecks and keystone capabilities around which to build organizations
  • Source and diligence ideas for new projects and design funding calls in partnership with funders
  • Build founding teams and recruit early hires
  • Coach founders on technical and organizational roadmaps, fundraising, and startup operations
  • Serve as a Director on multiple FRO boards, guiding milestones, funding decisions, and strategic direction
  • Represent Convergent externally and build relationships with philanthropic and public funders
  • Contribute to Convergent-wide initiatives like Founder Retreats and Residencies

Qualifications

  • Granular understanding of the 2026 AI landscape and implications for global exposure
  • Ability to develop credible plans or ideas for large-scale resilience efforts
  • Strong advocacy for philanthropic funding with ability to debate opposing viewpoints
  • Technical fluency in frontier AI to discern bottlenecks from fads
  • Deep field network and ability to mobilize contacts
  • Startup, venture firm, or founder experience including fundraising, budgeting, roadmaps, and hiring
  • Experience with boards, governance, or nonprofit leadership
  • Clear communication and fast-moving execution
