About the role

Contract and negotiation AI backend-focused role building ontology-driven/legal AI systems, with customer deployment at elite law firms and a frontend in TypeScript/React; emphasis on backend, data modeling, LLM integration, and deployment.

Responsibilities

  • - Ontology modeling for legal knowledge and turning firm precedents and playbooks into a structured ontology.
  • - Backend services behind drafting, review, and search (Postgres, OpenSearch, graph database, AWS).
  • - Work with LLM systems in production: write and test prompts, build retrieval and evaluation scaffolding, measure quality on real data.
  • - Scale and performance: profiling, query tuning, cost considerations for large documents.
  • - Deployments into elite law firms with senior FDE support; own pieces of firm rollout.
  • - Frontend work sufficient to ship UI changes (Word add-in and web app in TypeScript/React).

  • - Curiosity and intelligence over credentials.
  • - Backend as center of gravity (SQL, API design, debugging).
  • - Comfort working with customers on calls and extracting requirements.
  • - Ability to turn vague problems into a model/schema/ retrieval change.
  • - Interest in LLMs and their limits (experience with Claude Code or similar).
