About the role

Environmental Health & Safety Engineer responsible for implementing and overseeing EHS programs for Civil construction of Memphis AI Supercomputer infrastructure, with emphasis on mechanical construction safety (crane, rigging, heavy equipment, welding, fabrication) and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, enforce, and audit the site’s construction contractor EHS management program for SpaceX employees and contractors.
  • Develop and maintain documented safety observations from hazard identifications inspections of facilities, machinery, safety equipment, and on-site construction.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments, establish PPE requirements, determine safeguards, and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical oversight and support for high-risk mechanical construction tasks including crane and rigging operations, heavy equipment use, welding, and steel fabrication.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee exposure to hazards during nominal processes or emergency situations.
  • Develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employees.
  • Educate and provide safety training to construction personnel (cranes, rigging, heavy equipment, welding safety, fabrication).
  • Investigate incidents, prepare reports to determine root causes and preventive measures, focusing on crane, rigging, heavy equipment, welding or fabrication events.
  • Develop and maintain compliance with EPA, RCRA, DOT and other applicable regulations.
  • Ensure resources are allocated appropriately to safety-related items.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplines within the construction industry.
