About the role
Director level role owning Harvey's global benefits and leave strategy end to end, leading a global benefits team, and partnering across HR, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and Recruiting to scale benefits across 10+ markets with a focus on strategy, design, governance, and vendor management.
Responsibilities
- Define Harvey's global benefits and leave philosophy, including global consistency with local relevance as new markets are entered.
- Lead plan design and redesign across the US and international markets (10+ markets), balancing employee impact, competitiveness, and cost.
- Build a program roadmap and business case for benefits, wellness, and leave grounded in benchmarking and market analysis.
- Grow and develop the global benefits team across US and EMEA, setting priorities and elevating performance.
- Set and maintain service delivery standards (response times, escalation, follow-through), leveraging AI/automation to manage volume while preserving experience.
- Ensure benefits communication is clear and localized, collaborating with Recruiting to differentiate in candidate conversations.
- Oversee annual cycle end to end: renewals, open enrollment, plan changes, carrier transitions, and new-country launches.
- Lead the global leave of absence program with consistency and care as volume scales.
- Hold brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators accountable globally (RFPs, negotiations, contracting, performance).
- Ensure compliance with local regulations in each market, partnering with Legal, Security, and Finance on vendor onboarding, data privacy, and risk review.
- Manage the benefits budget with Finance and use data to drive changes.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in benefits, including 3+ years leading and developing a team (ideally in high-growth tech).
- Deep US benefits expertise across health and welfare plan design, 401(k), leave, and compliance (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA and state equivalents).
- Real international experience: designed or administered benefits in EMEA and/or APAC with understanding that statutory minimums are a floor, not a program.
- Strategic and hands-on capability to present plan-design recommendations to executives and resolve operational details (e.g., Workday eligibility).
- Vendor and broker management experience: RFPs, renewals, and accountability across global vendors.
- Financial fluency to build/defend benefits budget, model cost scenarios, and explain tradeoffs.
- Exceptional communication to translate complexity for employees and executives.
- Builder mentality with comfort in ambiguity and developing programs that don't exist yet.
- AI experience: using AI tools to streamline benefits work.
