About the role

IT Security Engineer with TS/SCI clearance to support security for SpaceX classified networks. Focus on identity, endpoint protection, SIEM, vulnerability management, and designing/deploying security controls in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with SpaceX IT admins/engineers to gather requirements, design, deploy, and support security solutions in a classified environment.
  • Apply SpaceX Enterprise standards to smaller classified environments.
  • Own processes, systems, and tools to support interplanetary mission goals.
  • Design, deploy, and operate security controls for classified IT networks (authentication/identity services, on-prem SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability management).
  • Harden and secure IT services (email, file servers, directory services, collaboration tools, internal apps); review permissions and access models to reduce standing privilege.
  • Partner with system, network, and application owners to securely design, deploy, and operate applications (auth, logging, patching, least privilege).
  • Lead or support detection, triage, and incident response for classified IT environment.
  • Make change recommendations and implement improvements using standard change control.
  • Collaborate across diverse teams to deliver secure, timely solutions.
  • Define, document, and follow standards and best practices for systems design, testing, and implementation.
  • Drive scripting/automation for repeatable security tasks (baselines, evidence collection, health checks).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or another STEM field; or 4+ years of enterprise IT security engineering experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience securing traditional IT environments (identity/MFA, endpoint security, SIEM, vulnerability scanning, email or file services).
  • Experience administering or operating at least two of: on-premises SIEM, enterprise EDR/AV, enterprise vulnerability management platform.
  • Active Top Secret / SCI (TS/SCI) clearance.
