About the role

Millwright role within SpaceX Launch Hardware Fabrication & Tooling to build, install, maintain and optimize mechanical systems at rocket launch facilities. Hands-on position focused on reading blueprints, installing machinery, maintaining power transmission systems, and ensuring safety and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
  • Adjust machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, motors and programmable logic controls
  • Operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts
  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
  • Align and test equipment, and make any necessary adjustments
  • Perform predictive and operational procedures
  • Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
  • Ensure operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations
  • Sharpen and maintain cutting tools
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/production or tooling environment
