About the role

Policy Manager for Quality is responsible for defining and enforcing quality standards for hosts and guests on Airbnb, partnering with cross-functional teams to design policy frameworks and enforcement systems, and enabling scalable policy solutions informed by data, research, and community insights.

Responsibilities

  • Lead policy development for host and guest quality, including Ground Rules and quality standards for stays
  • Draft clear and scalable policy frameworks that keep pace with product innovation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization (Product, Supply, Community Support, Legal)
  • Guide policy operationalization efforts in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Support company quality initiatives with risk mitigation guidance and policy deliverables
  • Proactively use data, research, and community insights to evaluate existing policies, identify improvement opportunities, and drive revisions before issues escalate

Qualifications

  • 10-12+ years experience in a Policy or Trust and Safety role
  • Prior leadership on quality, standards, or community policy with experience defining and enforcing quality at scale
  • Experience with review, rating, or reputation systems and related fairness and integrity questions
  • Experience designing policies for consumer two-sided marketplaces
  • Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking, research, and analysis
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Thoughtful business judgment and strategic thinking; ability to work under pressure
  • Proven ability to partner with and enable business teams, translating policy requirements into practical solutions
  • Experience working in a matrix and driving cross-functional solutions
  • Fluency in data analysis and data-driven decision-making; proactive in surfacing policy improvements
  • Ability to explain and simplify complex information to others
