About the role

Seoul-based Public Policy expert to lead Anthropic’s policy engagement in South Korea, build policy presence from the ground up, and drive AI governance and safety initiatives in collaboration with policy and technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mapping of key Korean AI policy stakeholders and build strategic relationships with government officials, think tank researchers, and civil society leaders across national and sub-national levels
  • Brief diverse policy and research actors on AI safety and policy opportunities in Korea
  • Convene stakeholders and speak at policy events on AI safety topics
  • Analyze emerging legislation and develop Anthropic’s engagement strategy, including substantive policy submissions and response documents
  • Support senior colleagues in external engagements by preparing meeting briefs and following up on requests
  • Develop new programming and opportunities for regular engagement with Korean policymakers, think tanks, and non-profits
  • Collaborate with policy and technical teams to translate Anthropic research into policy proposals and thought leadership for Korea
  • Develop and amplify public submissions, RFIs, and policy memos to drive positive AI policy changes
  • Partner with non-profits and academics to publish discussion papers on responsible AI research and development
  • Develop and execute a convening strategy (workshops/panels) positioning Anthropic as a thought leader in AI safety and governance in South Korea

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in government, technology, legal, or policy-relevant environments
  • Track record of effective advocacy with Korean government authorities at federal/state level
  • Experience analyzing legislation and engaging in regulatory processes
  • Willingness to build policy operation in Korea from scratch
  • Experience drafting and executing complex policy campaigns
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics for policymakers, civil society, and think tanks
  • Ability to convert high-level vision into executable operational plans
  • Ability to quickly learn complex technical areas and policy dynamics
  • Curiosity about frontier technological research and collaboration with technical colleagues to translate findings into policy
  • Fluent in Korean and English
