About the role

Role focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining safety-critical software development pipelines and tooling to enable a High Assurance Process for Zoox's production vehicles. Collaborates across the software organization to integrate CI infrastructure, tooling, and metrics for pipeline health and software quality.

Responsibilities

  • Be the go-to owner for the entire SSE pipeline ecosystem — from ClangTidy, ASAN/TSAN/Harden, and FBInfer — keeping every pipeline running smoothly across weekly, nightly, and CI so the rest of the org can trust the results.
  • Take pipelines from prototypes to fully deployed, CI-enforced systems across branches, shaping how production-grade looks for stability tooling at Zoox.
  • Turn raw issue data into dashboards and KPIs that tell a story — giving leadership and engineering teams a clear, real-time pulse on pipeline health and software quality trends.
  • Play detective when things break — root-causing gnarly cross-platform and determinism, building the instrumentation and tooling to crack them.
  • Help shape what's next for the pipeline suite — pitching in on new checker rollouts, testing strategy, and define how SSE scales its infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, aerospace, or related fields and 3+ years of experience working on large code bases
  • Experience developing in Bazel/Python, setting up backend infrastructure (databases, web servers, shell scripts, etc.), and interfacing with software written in C++ and Python.
  • Experienced in drafting system design diagrams and documentation for customer communication and long-term maintenance
  • Comfortable to whip up quick scripts to automate tasks, such as generating metrics, establishing traceability, etc, when necessary.
  • Deep experience in enterprise-scale deployment practices and issues
