About the role

Senior Product Engineer focused on payments risk for WeTravel, owning risk, exposure, reserves, and payout decision systems to scale to $10B in travel experiences per year. Remote, full-time, EMI/EMEA region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects end-to-end: discovery with Product, Payment Operations and KYC/Verification, solution design, build, rollout, and monitoring;
  • Shape decision frameworks and what to measure; automate manual steps;
  • Balance protection with user experience and maintain legitimate organizer access;
  • Own reliability and raise engineering bar across the team;
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Payments Operations, and KYC/Verification;
  • Build systems handling exposure, disputes, balances, payout history, and verification in one place.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product engineering experience;
  • 4+ years in risk, fraud, or underwriting systems handling real money;
  • Deep expertise in money-related decision systems: exposure, holds, reserves, payout limits, transaction monitoring, ledger balances;
  • Strong backend mastery in Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, Python, Go, Java, or Node.js (ability to ramp up on Ruby);
  • Direct production on-call experience, including post-mortems and incident response;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration in distributed environment;
  • Pragmatic adoption of AI tools to optimize engineering workflow and mentor others on AI concepts.
