About the role
Lead GitBook's global field and event marketing strategy, owning the end-to-end lifecycle of events and demand-generation initiatives to drive pipeline from an enterprise and developer-audience perspective.
Responsibilities
- Own the global event calendar: decide which industry tradeshows and conferences to attend, manage sponsorships, booth, staffing, messaging, budget, and on-site execution.
- Build activation around the big moments: design side-events surrounding conferences (dinners, roundtables, breakfast briefings, happy hours) and target accounts.
- Create GitBook's own events: design and run owned formats (roadshows, customer summits, docs-focused meetups, launch moments) including format, content arc, and experience.
- Experiment with community activation: collaborate with DevRel on hackathons, docs sprints, and community events with clear experiments and learnings.
- Own online events: webinars, virtual roundtables, livestreams, coordinating or running them.
- Build the tiering model: define Tier 1/2/3 events, including spend bands, staffing, pre/post-event motion, and eligibility criteria.
- Report on pipeline, not attendance: develop measurement models for cost per opportunity, event-influenced pipeline, target-account attendance, and conversion to closed won.
- Make the sales follow-up motion work: establish pre-event target lists with AEs, event briefings, and follow-up structures to convert badge scans into conversations.
- Act as ABM sparring partner: collaborate on account-based plays, 1:1 and 1:few programs, and optimal event plug-ins into sales motions.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years in B2B SaaS marketing with meaningful field marketing, event marketing, or integrated demand generation experience
- Experience running international programs, especially in the USA
- ROI-focused mindset with ability to quantify cost per opportunity and determine event value
- Strong operational range: sponsorship negotiation, logistics, email invites, and dashboard/report building (e.g., HubSpot)
- Sales credibility to participate in pipeline reviews and defend spend
- Taste and opinions on what makes events memorable and valuable
- Comfort with a technical/developer audience (engineers and leaders)
- Ownership mindset with ability to build processes, flag issues, and self-drive initiatives
