About the role

Senior Android engineer role to build the ChatGPT Library on mobile, owning end-to-end features and shaping Android experiences for saving, organizing, discovering, and interacting with user-generated content in ChatGPT.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship new Android experiences that help users access, organize, and build on the content they create with ChatGPT.
  • Own features end to end—from early product exploration and technical design through implementation, experimentation, launch, and iteration.
  • Develop scalable, maintainable foundations for Libraries experiences to evolve with new AI capabilities.
  • Improve architecture, performance, reliability, and responsiveness of content-rich experiences across Android devices.
  • Integrate Android platform capabilities to create native-feeling experiences.
  • Partner with product, design, research, data science, and engineering teams to translate AI capabilities into useful products.
  • Help establish technical direction and raise the quality bar for Android development across the team.

Qualifications

  • Strong track record of building and shipping high-quality Android products used at scale.
  • Deep expertise in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, the Android SDK, and modern Android architecture and development practices.
  • Care deeply about product quality including performance, reliability, accessibility, responsiveness, and visual polish.
  • Experience owning complex product experiences across the full Android stack.
  • Strong product instincts and ability to turn ambiguous ideas into simple, intuitive user experiences.
  • Design scalable and maintainable systems enabling other engineers to move faster.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, product, design, research, and data science.
  • Excited to build zero-to-one experiences and adapt quickly as AI capabilities evolve.
