About the role

WordPress Implementation Engineer responsible for platform deployment, maintenance, security, and operational stability of a WordPress-based trading education platform. Works with Technical Lead to execute specs, ensure health between releases, and deliver real-time trading data to members.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and Deploy Features: Execute implementation plans from specifications, write/test/debug code across custom plugins, ensure releases on staging before production.
  • Manage Platform Health and Maintenance: Own release calendar, perform WordPress core/plugin/infrastructure updates, backup verification, and database sanity checks.
  • Maintain Security and Infrastructure Standards: Enforce security protocols including input sanitization, nonces, cap checks, secret management, rate limiting, WAF rules, and access control on custom REST endpoints.
  • Triage Front-Line Technical Issues: Serve as primary technical contact for member access issues, billing anomalies (MemberPress/Stripe), SSO glitches, and session bugs; resolve routine issues and escalate complex defects with actionable write-ups.
  • Run Post-Release Verification: Conduct regression testing for critical member journeys (checkout, SSO, course progression, community features) after deployments.
  • Support Next-Gen Data Pipelines: Collaborate to maintain and integrate external Python microservices and real-time streaming architectures delivering high-frequency market data (Massive.com WebSockets, Firebase Firestore/RTDB).
  • Maintain Platform Runbooks: Create clear, standardized technical documentation and runbooks for platform operability and continuity.

Qualifications

  • Experienced WordPress Developer: 4+ years with advanced WordPress internals (hooks, REST APIs, custom routing, capabilities, transients, object caching).
  • Data Model & Plugin Specialist: Proficient with custom data modeling at scale (JetEngine CPTs, meta fields, relations, REST writes) and SQL inspection (phpMyAdmin).
  • Membership & Billing Expert: Production membership site experience with deep knowledge of MemberPress and Stripe integration troubleshooting.
  • Security-Minded Engineering Mindset: Strong focus on input validation, secure REST endpoints, auth flows, and high-risk handling of billing/SSO systems.
  • Proactive Problem Solver: Self-starter with root-cause analysis in complex ETL/API setups, prefers surgical edits and staging tests.
  • Exceptional Technical Communicator: Advanced English communication skills to convey technical root causes to non-technical stakeholders.
