About the role

Software Engineer focused on core C++ quant library development, performance optimization, and numerical models within Vola Dynamics' high-performance quant software stack. Hybrid NYC position reporting to CTO with ownership from day one in a small, hands-on team.

Responsibilities

  • Core library development: Build and develop our core C++ quant library, from interface design through implementation, tests, and documentation.
  • Library design: Design internal APIs and external APIs for clients.
  • Performance work: Profile and optimize algorithms, functions, or workflows.
  • Quantitative algorithms in production: Implement pricing and numerical models with quants.
  • Supporting other developers: Review code and assist teammates in writing better C++.
  • AI tooling: Utilize AI development tools (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) in the build process.
  • Build systems and developer experience: Improve build times, tests, CI, and developer experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in computer science or a highly technical discipline (physics, engineering, chemistry, etc.)
  • roughly 2 to 6 years of professional C++ experience, or comparable depth from academic/open source work
  • Substantial experience in a large C++ codebase, fluent in modern OO and/or functional programming
  • Proficient in Python and experienced with at least one other systems language (Rust, C#, Java, etc.)
  • Clear, concise, well-organized C++ code
  • Comfort with agent-driven development workflows to generate high-quality code
  • Careful with testing and numerical edge cases
  • Rigorous about performance and hardware-aware considerations
  • Strong communication: able to explain thinking in code, reviews, design discussions, and writing
  • Independent worker and team player in a small hybrid team
  • Authorized to work in the US
