About the role

Engineering Manager to lead and scale the Data Warehouse & Streaming Infra team, owning Anthropic's data platform end-to-end, shaping long-term data flow vision across multi-cloud environments, and partnering with Finance, Product, Research, and Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow, and mentor the Data Warehouse & Streaming Infra team, fostering ownership and engineering excellence
  • Own data warehousing, streaming, and processing capabilities end-to-end including reliability, security, governance, and cost
  • Scale and evolve data ingestion, event streaming, change data capture, storage, orchestration, compute, query, and reporting systems
  • Define and execute roadmap for batch and streaming data infrastructure balancing immediate needs with durable design
  • Lead platform decisions for streaming backbone (e.g., Kafka options) with models of throughput, cost, and operational burden
  • Partner with Finance, Product, Research, and Engineering to ensure data systems support business-critical decisions and growth
  • Drive hiring for senior data infrastructure engineers in a high-growth, high-trust environment
  • Establish data quality standards, freshness and delivery SLAs, and operational processes for high-change environments
  • Ensure sound infrastructure investment decisions considering cost, capacity, reliability, and maintainability
  • Align Infrastructure org on common direction for shared platforms, tooling, and best practices across data stack

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience building and leading data infrastructure teams
  • People-first leadership with ability to give feedback, grow engineers' careers, and build trust across technical and non-technical partners
  • Deep hands-on expertise in batch and streaming data infrastructure (warehousing, pipelines, orchestration, event streaming, CDC) and distributed log concepts
  • Experience owning systems with significant business/financial impact and shipping at speed while improving reliability, scalability, security, and cost
  • Strong hiring track record with ability to build teams from small to large
