About the role

Senior Software Engineer to own simulation and hardware test infrastructure for SITL/HITL robotic towers, building automated, whole-system testing and scalable test platforms for surface defense sensing towers running on NVIDIA Jetson.

Responsibilities

  • Own and grow our SITL environments: add product variants and scenarios, keep simulated sensor and video pipelines faithful, keep whole-system test runtimes short.
  • Build out functional coverage on the HITL bench across motion control/trajectory execution, camera/sensor bring-up, firmware update paths, network failover, and recovery from power loss/reboots.
  • Own the CI integration end to end: scheduling, dependency chaining between test stages, artifact/log capture, result reporting, and flaky-test triage.
  • Grow the test platform continuously as the product line evolves (new compute generations, payloads, variants).
  • Make failures diagnosable without touching the rig: improve log capture, serial console capture, and test artifacts for CI-based root cause.
  • Partner with hardware/manufacturing engineers to stand up HITL benches (fixtures, switching, power control, instrumentation).
  • Collaborate with firmware/platform/business teams to enable their tests against the framework and support them as first users.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering, with substantial time building test infrastructure, CI systems, or simulation for hardware-involved systems.
  • Proficiency in Python for test authoring and automation, plus working ability in Rust or C++ to read/debug tested services.
  • Experience automating tests against physical hardware: provisioning, remote power/reset control, serial consoles, network booting, or instrumented benches.
  • Strong CI/CD engineering skills including pipelines with expensive stages, hardware resource contention, and non-per-commit scheduling.
  • Experience with declarative configuration and reproducible builds (Nix/NixOS preferred; knowledge of Bazel/Buildroot/Yocto or IaC tools is good).
  • Solid Linux systems fundamentals (systemd, networking, filesystems, boot).
  • Judgment to select valuable tests and discipline to fix/delete flaky ones.
  • US person status and eligibility to obtain/maintain US security clearance.

Skills

Required:PythonRust or C++

Benefits

  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package available to employees.
