About the role

Whatnot is seeking a Video Engineer to define and execute our video strategy, improving video quality and building tools to maximize engagement and sales for sellers. The role focuses on video solutions, live streaming enhancements, and seller tools, with opportunities to shape future video features and onboard new providers. Remote-friendly with in-person hubs in SF, LA, NYC, or Seattle.

Responsibilities

  • Implement robust measurement and observability.
  • Build video recording pipeline for T&S and user experience
  • Develop initial seller tools for enhanced livestream interaction.
  • Advance video features for flawless user experiences (future direction).
  • Inform long term video strategy including framework success criteria and creation (future direction).
  • Lead the innovation in seller tools, enabling peak streaming performance (future direction).
  • Evaluate and onboard new video providers (future direction).

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with scaled WebRTC system
  • Excellent ability to translate product requirements to a scalable system.
  • Strong engineering design quality
  • Problem-solving orientation
  • AWS/DevOps experience
