About the role

The Business Operations Manager / Senior Manager role partners with Whatnot’s leadership to build scalable, cross-functional initiatives that drive growth and improve the business. Responsibilities span global expansion, marketing efficiency, margin analysis, and tooling to track progress and resolve high-impact issues for buyers and sellers.

Responsibilities

  • Take Whatnot global: launch and scale international markets (UK, France, Germany, Canada); conduct primary research to identify opportunities across product, pricing, and incentives; own market success metrics (buyer/seller funnels, growth, marketing investments, margin dynamics).
  • Scale marketing engine: apply business rigor to capital deployment, measure and prioritize marketing investments, analyze channel decisions, build capabilities, and align hiring roadmap with growth ambitions.
  • Build a healthy business: partner with StratFin and Data to analyze margin levers and growth investments; inform pricing decisions; translate findings into leadership actions.
  • Help Whatnot run better: develop tooling as a single source of truth for progress against goals, highlight metrics, resource allocation, and blockers to drive lean iteration.
  • Deliver for users: pressure-test new products; translate learnings into initiatives to improve buyer/seller experience; own resolution of high-impact issues end-to-end when needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or related field
  • 5-6+ years experience in consulting, investment banking/private equity, or a fast-growing startup
  • Able to move fast with little structure and guidance
  • Curious about different parts of the business and levers to accelerate growth
  • Ability to operate independently and dive deep into ambiguous projects
  • Demonstrated cross-functional influence and proactive communication; able to align stakeholders and drive change in fluid environments
  • Fluency in using AI tools to enhance problem-solving, analysis, and execution across business challenges
