About the role

Role focused on expanding the brand’s character universe through comics, social content, memes, short-form animation, and character storytelling. Primarily idea-generation to develop recurring bits and creative briefs for illustrators.

Responsibilities

  • Generate a high volume of comedy concepts rooted in the brand’s existing characters.
  • Develop funny situations, character interactions, comic concepts, recurring bits, and social hooks.
  • Learn the characters’ personalities, relationships, and world to ensure ideas align with each character.
  • Generate a steady volume of ideas and content week over week.
  • Create concepts across comics, memes, stickers and GIFs, short-form video, and static posts.
  • Adapt ideas to different formats and platforms (comic, Reel, TikTok, meme, static post).
  • Develop concepts where text and imagery work together to create humor.
  • Turn concepts into clear creative briefs for illustrators to execute.
  • Communicate ideas clearly for the creative team to bring concepts to life.
  • Collaborate closely with the team through project management tools and regular check-ins.

Qualifications

  • Experience writing for a character or mascot brand is a plus.
  • Experience or strong interest in animated characters, comics, and toy culture is a plus.
  • Formal experience level is flexible (junior, senior, self-taught, formally trained).
  • Comedic instinct and the test submission will be prioritized over résumé experience.
