About the role
EHS Engineer responsible for implementing environmental, health, and safety programs for Cape Canaveral Starship spaceport construction, collaborating with leaders, and conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety reviews.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain compliance with regulations and guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and other regulatory agencies
- Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures
- Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards and recommend remedial actions when safety policies are not met
- Work with launch engineers and technician teams to perform safety reviews of complex hazardous operations
- Lead or assist in incident investigations including initial follow-up, root cause analysis, and corrective action development and closure
- Implement and develop safety and health programs including OSHA general industry and construction standards, cryogenics and high pressure systems, confined space, fall protection, NFPA 70E, lock-out/tag-out, cranes and rigging
- Develop safety solutions to resolve EHS hazards within cost and schedule constraints following a safety order of precedence (elimination, substitution, engineering controls, work practice controls, training, PPE)
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct hazards and ensure regulatory compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in the design, development, and general operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines
