About the role

Material Flow Engineer to analyze, design and optimize receiving, storage, movement, and presentation of materials at SpaceX Starbase to enable Starship production and program targets. Focus on lean material flow, data analytics, modeling, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Process Design and Optimization: Design and implement strategies for efficient material flow from receipt to lineside and reverse logistics; use value stream mapping for end-to-end optimization.
  • Factory and Warehouse Layout Planning: Develop conceptual and detailed layouts for material flow and storage to achieve targeted inventory levels; optimize space and density; build space capacity models.
  • Develop Materials Management Resource Plans: Create labor and equipment models; conduct time studies; optimize material handling equipment and procedures.
  • Part Packaging and Rack Flow: Develop cost-effective packaging solutions between vendors and SpaceX; optimize for total landed cost; collaborate with packaging vendors and internal teams to build right-sized packaging fleets.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Use Excel, Tableau, SQL to assess material flow performance and support data-driven decision making.
  • Safety and Training: Conduct risk assessments, audits, and training for new processes and equipment; ensure safety standards compliance.
  • Project Collaboration: Work with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain on cross-functional projects; align stakeholders to target state.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (internships and school projects qualify)
