About the role

Role based in Bengaluru with hybrid model, focusing on maintaining uptime for MongoDB Atlas, scaling the Cloud Operations Engineering team, and driving incident management and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with a global team of Cloud Operations Engineers to maintain uptime guarantees for Atlas
  • Scale the worldwide Cloud Operations Engineering team via new processes and tools
  • Scope, design, and deploy systems to reduce Mean Time to Resolve for customer incidents
  • Monitor and detect emerging customer-facing incidents on the Atlas platform and assist in proactive resolution
  • Automate routine monitoring and troubleshooting tasks
  • Diagnose live incidents, differentiate between platform vs usage issues, and drive resolution
  • Collaborate with product management and cloud engineering to improve management applications powering Atlas infrastructure
  • Inform executive leadership and escalation management about major outages
  • Coordinate and participate in a weekly on-call rotation to handle short-term customer incidents

Qualifications

  • Experience as an on-call DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Operations engineer (at least 8 years)
  • Expertise with Linux system administration, configuration, troubleshooting
  • Experience in monitoring, system performance data collection and analysis, and reporting
  • Expertise with networking technologies (DNS, TCP/IP, etc)
  • Knowledge of database operations and concepts
  • Familiarity with AWS and other cloud platforms (GCP, Azure)
  • Intermediate proficiency in scripting or coding
  • CS/CE degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language: Java, Go, Python, JavaScript
  • Keen interest in learning new things
