About the role

Senior Technical Program Manager responsible for end-to-end hardware program execution within AES, from concept through production scaling, owning schedule, cost, and scope, and coordinating cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end program execution for one or more hardware programs within AES — from early development through production scaling; single accountable owner for schedule, cost, and scope across the program and primary interface between the program team, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Drive decisions and resolve issues at both strategic and tactical levels in hardware development contexts.
  • Own full program lifecycle for assigned AES hardware programs — from NPI/prototype builds through low-rate and full-rate production; accountable for schedule, cost, and scope performance.
  • Develop and maintain program plans, integrated master schedules, budgets, risk registers, and stakeholder communications; ensure artifacts reflect ground truth.
  • Define program execution strategy, including phase gate criteria, acceptance frameworks, build plans, and production transition roadmaps.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and operations; align priorities and drive accountability.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate program risks; escalate when necessary with clarity and decisiveness.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external customers; deliver credible program status in reviews and engagements.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to drive production scaling plans, capacity investments, and make/buy decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in program execution; establish repeatable processes and tools across the AES portfolio.
  • Mentor and develop Program Coordinators and junior TPMs to grow AES PM capabilities.

  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management or systems engineering in a hardware development or defense manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering complex hardware programs on schedule and within budget, from early development through production
  • Strong technical fluency to engage substantively with engineering teams on design decisions, system integration challenges, and production readiness criteria
  • Deep knowledge of integrated master scheduling, risk management, earned value or equivalent cost tracking, and requirements management
  • Proven ability to lead large cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Experience managing external customer relationships and navigating scope/schedule negotiations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across factory floor to executive briefing room
  • Strong financial acumen; able to build and manage program budgets and interpret cost performance data
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated hardware development environment
  • Experience supporting NPI programs through DV, PV, or LRIP gates
  • Background in financial operations or program controls (budgeting, planning, EVM, cost tracking)
  • PMP, CAPM, or equivalent certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Operations, or related field
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance
  • Willing to travel ~25%
