About the role

Founding engineer role at Inlet, an YC-backed startup building automatic timekeeping for legal professionals. Report to CTO and work closely with founders to design and ship low-latency data pipelines, models, and UX enhancements to automate time tracking for law firms.

Responsibilities

  • Make our processing faster. Help architect and optimize the low-latency systems that turn activity streams into time entries.
  • Improve our modeling. Build evaluation pipelines, identify where accuracy breaks down, run experiments, and make improvements across our multi-stage modeling pipeline.
  • Make reviewing time effortless. Talk to attorneys, paralegals, and customer success, then improve the product and UX so users can review their time with fewer clicks and corrections.
  • Build out our development pipeline. Help us automate parts of our engineering process so we can continue to speed up how we ship.

Qualifications

  • You have built real software.
  • You can investigate problems without a playbook and make good tradeoffs when speed, quality, and complexity pull in different directions.
  • You love building great products and want to understand customer struggles before deciding what to build.
  • You learn quickly and take ownership; when something you built reaches production, you own it.
  • Prior experience in legal technology is not required. Familiarity with our stack is not required.

About Inlet

AI timekeeping for legal professionals.

Attorneys at small- and medium-sized law firms juggle dozens of matters, context-switching throughout the day – and often failing to record their billable time for every task they worked on. Inlet records these tasks automatically – eliminating painful admin time and increasing their revenue.
